Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe NV (HHIE) controls the European activities of the Construction Equipment Division of the Hyundai Heavy Industries Corporation (HHI). The European office is easily recognized by its distinctive ‘track’ logo, which serves to distinguish it as a separate entity from the worldwide parent company, based in Ulsan, Korea. HHI is to be recognized by the familiar ‘triangle’ logo and has even wider heavy engineering interests, in ship-building, off-shore, power generation, and industrial plant (and not to be confused with Hyundai Motor Corporation, which is a completely separate company, sharing only the same name).
European headquarters
Based in Geel, Belgium, with excellent pan-European communications, the headquarters of Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe is the hub of the organization which provides all the necessary support for the demands of a busy and expanding European dealer network. It is not just a central stocking and distribution point for machines. HHIE also supplies all the other essential support services like sales, marketing, financial, product support, parts, and of course full logistical support to maintain timely delivery of parts and machines.
Portfolio
The comprehensive portfolio of construction machines offered includes the extensive range of tracked and wheeled hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, mini-excavators and skid-steer loaders, and a full line-up of diesel, LPG and electric-powered industrial lift trucks.
Dealer network
The sharp end of the HHIE distribution system, and the key to its success in Europe, is the well-qualified, wide-spread and experienced international dealer network . HHIE provides a sophisticated and efficient level of all-round back-up, which instills confidence in dealers and customers, for both the products and the strength of the organization behind it.
Achievements
The over-riding objective of this operation is to maintain the momentum of a mature and fast-growing organization, and to build on its position as one of the major players in a competitive and discerning market. From a relatively humble start in 1995 of just 250 machines delivered, Hyundai has seen its sales grow to about 3000 machines in 2005. HHIE’s business in Europe grew by 45 per cent over the previous year. This has all been achieved by providing high-quality and high-performance machines, combined with reliable back-up - and especially by providing ‘value for money’ - that much sought-after ingredient which is essential for success in the modern business environment.
On a wider front, the success of the parent company, HHI, is also impressive. In March 2005 the Shipbuilding Division has received an order for the world’s largest container ship, able to carry 10.000 TEU containers. The Engine & Machinery Division successfully tested a common rail diesel marine engine of 93.360 HP of power in November 2004. It currently is the most powerful diesel engine in the world. As witnessed by the many visitors to the Korean facilities, the scale of engineering achievement is staggering!
