EdgeCAM is a complete CAM software solution for production machining and mold & die applications. With an extensive range of 2-5 Axis milling, turning and mill/turn strategies, seamless CAD integration and sophisticated automation tools, EdgeCAM is the only CAM system you’ll ever need.
EdgeCAM Version 12 expands on its 5-axis machining capabilities and delivers improved CAD data management, faster toolpath generation and new options for hole cycle optimisation.
EdgeCAM version 12 extends the range of 5-axis machine tool support to include head/table configurations for both simultaneous and positional work. This is supported by full machine simulation to aid visualisation of the machining process and verify work setup. The complete machine, including all table/head and tool movements can be displayed, helping to ensure safe operation and process optimisation.
Read how EdgeCAM’s new 4-and 5-Axis strategies can help you use your multi-axis machines to their full capabilities.
State-of-the-art visualization tools are provided by EdgeCAM Simulator, with the ability to accurately model the machine tool and simulate all movement within the manufacturing process. This is particularly useful with 5-Axis machining, where small changes in angular movement may generate significant movement of the machine tool, increasing the potential for expensive collisions.
EdgeCAM is designed to cope with programming the simplest to the most complex components and offers full support for the latest CAD, machine tool and tooling technology. Available worldwide, EdgeCAM is supplied and supported through a network of subsidiaries and specialist resellers
 | Edgecam 4 Axis Edgecam’s 4-Axis strategies are ideal for the rotary machining of automotive and aerospace components such as camshafts, crankshafts and blades, as well as the production of rotary dies and tooling for the oil & gas industry. A range of advanced options provides full control over the toolpath.
Machine simulation for safe operation
Edgecam’s 4 and 5-Axis machining is supported by full machine simulation to aid visualisation of the machining process. The complete machine tool and all moveable axes may be modelled and incorporated within the interactive machining simulation, helping to ensure fast and safe process optimisation.
Accurate machine simulation is critically important with 5-Axis machining, as small changes in tool orientation can lead to significant rotary movement of the cutting tool - with the associated risk of collisions and/or surface marking of the finished component. | | Edgecam Milling Production Milling
Edgecam provides the production machine shop with a wide range of flexible milling cycles. Machining efficiency is maximized on simple and complex prismatic parts as well as those incorporating sculptured surface geometry. With Edgecam you get prismatic machining combined with powerful 3D solid and surface machining strategies, all in one complete solution.
4- and 5-Axis simultaneous machining
Edgecam 4 and 5-Axis milling products are designed to meet the production machining requirements of industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical and oil & gas. 4- and 5-Axis simultaneous machining offers key advantages over conventional indexed 3-Axis machining:
Reduced cycle time by machining complex components using a single setup. In addition to time savings improved accuracy can also be achieved as the potential for positioning errors between setups is eliminated.
Improved surface finish and extended tool life by tilting the tool to maintain the optimum tool to part contact point at all times.
Improved access to undercuts and deep pockets through tilting the tool or component allows shorter series tooling to be employed, further improving the surface finish and eliminating the need for secondary setups.
The ability to machine complex parts from solid that would previously have to be cast. This approach is highly beneficial for prototypes and small volume runs and is particular applicable with the latest Mill/Turn machines. | | Edgecam Solid Machinist Within Edgecam, the integrity of your design is maintained because the solid model is impor ted without translation. Edgecam Solid Machinist uses automatic feature recognition to interrogate the solid model and quickly identify machineable features. Edgecam then offers the user the most appropriate tooling and machining strategy to generate accurate toolpaths.
Edgecam Solid Machinist® is a powerful and seamlessly integrated CAM system for generating milling and turning machining strategies and NC code from solid models. Files from all major CAD systems, including Autodesk Inventor®, SolidWorks®, Solid Edge®, Unigraphics NX®, CATIA V5® and Pro/ENGINEER can be opened directly in Edgecam, where a wide range of innovative features offer a fast and reliable route to manufacture.
Intelligent manufacturing on a solid foundation
The associative link between Edgecam Solid Machinist and the original model ensures that even late design changes won’t affect lead times. Anyone interested in tighter integration between engineering and manufacturing should consider Edgecam Solid Machinist
| | Edgecam Turning Edgecam Turning provides functionality for a wide range of machine tools, including 2-axis lathes, multi-turret configurations, sub-spindle turning centers and mill/turn machines. On a mill/turn machine, C-, Y- and B-axis milling and drilling take place within the same program as the turning to provide a fully integrated and associative programming solution.
Ease of use and an understanding that cycle times are critical, especially on multi-configuration mill/turn machines, underpin the development of Edgecam’s turning functionality.
Edgecam produces advanced rough and finish turning cycles, together with support for facing, boring and drilling in either canned cycle or longhand format. Toolpath calculation takes into consideration the complete tooling insert and previously machined material to avoid gouging and eliminate air cutting.
Edgecam offers support for Sandvik Coromant Wiper inserts for turning tools, allowing these productivity enhancing inserts to be used reliably in all aspects of production machining | | Free Form Machining A complete solution for manufacturers of molds, dies, patterns and prototypes.
