ROTA offers two types of washing machines. The rotary versions are best suited for washing ampoules and small vials. The transportation by means of precision pincers guarantees a high safety standard in respect to glass breaks and cross-contamination.
Linear machines are more suited for vial washing. With one basic design, they provide the capability to process a wide range of sizes at high speed.
In parenteral packaging, open containers have to be washed before they can be sterilized, filled and closed. At this first stage, quality in washer design and construction pays off. If the washing process is not correctly designed, there will be difficulties further on in the process.
Versatility best describes the range of ROTA's vial filling and closing machines. The typical fill volumes and speeds are accompanied by a wide range of closures: rubber stoppers, droppers, screw caps, aluminum caps and pipettes. Up to two closing operations are standard on one machine. With a minor change over, even four closure operations are possible.
Vials - the most common container to store parenterals. Powder and non-parenteral products are also stored in vials. The wide range of products and wide range of vial and small bottle types, requires numerous machine variations. And all of them have to run reliable and economically
Ampoules are the perfect container to store parenteral liquids. It is obvious that filling and closing of ampoules has to happen under perfect and sterile conditions. In order to achieve this high standards in production environment, the best and most reliable equipment is necessary.
ROTA is one of the leading manufacturer of ampoule filling and closing machines. The range of machines covers small scale production of valuable products as well as large scale, continuous systems. A comprehensive list of optional features and accessories allows the machine to be provided to meet the individual require-ments of each customer and each application. Dual function machines allow for both ampoules and vials to be processed on the same unit. This provides great flexibility in production needs, and is a standard, well proven design.
ROTA has two different series of tunnels with different heat transfer techniques: With Laminar Air Flow Tunnels, the air in the tunnel is heated and passed through high speed laminar flow HEPA filters, and then passed over the containers. The directed air flow, precisely controlled heating elements and HEPA filters offer an exceptional high degree of reliability. Radiation Tunnels generate and transfer the heat by means of radiators. They offer good particulate control, even temperature, and a low purchase cost.
Sterile containers are an necessary element in parenteral packaging. Accordingly all efforts are directed to achieve constant conditions essential for a reliable depyrogination process. Last but not least a reasonable energy consumption is expected.
All ROTA machines can be integrated and assembled into compact lines. For processing ampoules, vials or both type of containers on one system. In many applications, the size and complexity of these systems require a made-to-order system to conform to the existing floor plan. Our technical staff is well trained and experienced in working with these challenges, evolving the final design with the close cooperation of our customers.
Large-scale production requires strategies which will reduce human activities to a minimum. By integrating the three main process steps of washing, sterilisation, and filling/closing a continuous flow of containers is achieved. Parenteral container transportation time and associated costs can be kept to a very low level, while at the same time, keeping the very high standards of parenteral production
In cooperation with recognized and experienced isolator manufacturers, ROTA offers total machine systems for filling and closing of ampoules and/or vials. At the moment, these machines are built to order, and ROTA has several validated machine systems in operation. However, the future will provide standard ROTA designs with fast delivery, validation and speedy implementation into manufacturing
Though still a new technology, an environment that excludes human bio-burden and totally contains the process is an attractive evolution of this technology. The ability to provide such an environment at a true cost approaching only half the installation and operating costs of the common "clean room" concept, is exciting. It is clearly the future of parenteral processing.
ROTA labelling machines for self-adhesive labels meet these require-ments in an effective and economical way. High precision, compact machine design, wide range of speeds and modern electronic control and electronic inspection features are the foundation of these machines.
Labels are the first line of communication with the health care profes-sional, providing essential information about the contents of the parenteral container. Precision, cleanliness and reliability of label placement are essential considerations in selection of labelling equipment.
ROTA offers table top, as well as semi-automatic machines for filling and closing of ampoules and vials as well as labelling of these containers. Their compact design contains all features of production machines, except PLC control and automated infeed. Protection by enclosures assures operator safety and regulatory compliance.
While laboratories deal with small quantities of containers, their requirements are very similar to that of a large scale production. The machine operation, relative to safety, reliability and the need to provide a straight forward scale up path to production systems is essential.
ROTA offers semi-automatic and automatic visual inspection machines for all ampoule and vial sizes.
Even small bottles can be inspected. Inspection is done through magnifying lenses or by means of cameras. The speed of these machines is coordinated with the speeds of other ROTA machines.
No parenteral medication can be sold without one hundred percent inspection. Generally, there is nothing more precise or more reliable than a trained human inspector, as long as the operator is not fatigued. To assist the human, semi-automatic inspection systems to assist the human are commonly used. ROTA also provides totally automatic systems for very large production requirements, especially for particulates, fill level and cosmetic defects.
