Since June 1, 2004, the previously separate businesses of IMS Gear Cutting Tools GmbH and KOEPFER Verzahnungswerkzeuge GmbH have been combined. With the formation of IMS KOEPFER Cutting Tools GmbH, a new and stronger speciality company was created for the development and manufacture of the high-precision tools. The advantages of the bundling of know-how, experiences and capacities built up for decades are obvious: IMS KOEPFER Cutting Tools GmbH acts even more flexible and more innovative on the global market. Consequently the new business is more than the sum of both parts, it is in a clearly stronger market position and competitiveness -best prerequisites for sustainable growth and international presence

Gear Hobbing Machine 160

The Model 160 hobbing machine combines current technological developments and an innovative design resulting from generations of Koepfer gear cutting experience. With eight axis of CNC-control the Model 160 gear hobbing machine opens new possibilities for true high-speed machining of gears. The machine is based upon the proven KOEPFER design concept of symmetrical distribution of cutting forces without any cantilever effects on the guideways.

Gear Hobbing Machine 180

The completely enclosed hobbing machine Model 180 is the continued development of the successful, conventionally controlled hobbing machine Models 153 and 173. For the fully automatic hobbing of a variety of different workpieces, also in small and medium quantities, the adjustable parallel magazine loading system provides a flexible solution. Gear Hobbing Machine 200

The Model 200 hobbing machine combines current technology with maximum versatility and flexibility. The eight axes of CNC control on the Model 200 allow all possible gear cutting applications to be accomplished. No matter whether the workpieces are loaded manually or with flexible automation systems, the Model 200 hobbing machine is the answer to the increased variety of products. Part diversity, decreasing lot sizes, and a demand for "just in time" manufacturing makes the Model 200 the correct choice for your gear manufacturing needs. The machine bed is a composite epoxy material that provides the highest static, dynamic, and thermal stability. A closed box machine design prevents deflection of the tailstock due to high clamping pressures and cutting forces. The unique KOEPFER design concept of symmetrical distribution of cutting forces ensures a long machine life with consistent part quality. The basis of the KOEPFER automation is the gantry loader with V-claw. Different kinds of blank and component magazines for the different part-spectra are available.

Today about 330 employees at KOEPFER Zahnrad- und Getriebetechnik GmbH are working on the manufacture of gears and gear boxes. High-quality gears and gear boxes are produced primarily for the automotive, the automotive supply industry, as well as for gearbox manufacturers. KOEPFER Zahnrad- und Getriebetechnik GmbH today designs and develops gears and gear boxes made of metal or plastics (spur gears, worm wheels, worms, internal gears) as well as gears with special tooth profiles (sprockets, splines, ratchets, belt drives). The design of complete gear boxes can be made either to customer drawings or designed by us for a customer application. Equipped with the most modern machinery KOEPFER Zahnrad- und Getriebetechnik GmbH is in a position to offer a technical solution according to our customer requirements. All different processes to manufacture gears (hobbing, rolling, shaping, shaving, grinding, honing) are used. The injection moulding department is specialized to design and manufacture high accuracy plastic gears
