Today, wood and wood-related products play a huge role within the Polish economy. With Poland housing many forests, many families rely upon sales to processing companies elsewhere. When it comes to furniture, Poland is prominent on the world market sitting in 4th and 10th position for exports and largest manufacturers respectively. Each year, around 45 billion zloty worth of wood leaves Poland for other countries; 10% of all exports.
However, the best way to quantify the role of wood in the Polish economy is to perhaps assess GDP. Currently, the forestry and wood sector generates over 2% of all GDP and therefore is responsible for hundreds of thousands of jobs and huge amounts of investment. As we continue to move forward, this industry will continue to be integral to Polish success.
