Tradition1894 - founded as a small builder's and fitter's shop by master fitter Ludwig Binder in Graz-Eggenberg. In the 1920s, the company specialised in iron constructions and was led through the turmoil of the world economic crisis of the 1930s by the son-in-law of the founder, Dr. Alois Sernetz, who took over the management in 1926. After the recession years, an economic revival occurred in the 1940s, and out of this the company developed into a medium-sized enterprise. The 1950s up to the present time was a groundbreaking period for the development of the company. In 1954, under the management of Dr. Alois Sernetz's son, Dr. Heinz Sernetz, the "Binder system" was developed for resonance screening machines. The "Binder system" became a name which even today has not lost its importance. In 1960, building of the new shops and offices in Gleisdorf was begun and one year later the first machine tools were put into operation. In 1971, Binder+Co set another milestone in its history. It was incorporated into the nationalised VOEST Alpine Group for purposes of world-wide marketing. For the first time ever, the export share of production exceeded the 50% mark in the 1973. For 20 years Binder+Co was a successful public-sector provider of products in the field of processing of bulk materials of all kinds, as also in the recycling industry. In 1991, the company was privatised again and came under majority ownership of the private Austrian AURICON Beteiligungs AG. In 1998, AURICON sold Binder+Co to its sister company, Waagner-Biro AG. In 1999 the core divisions of Waagner-Biro Binder AG were spun off into an independent joint stock company. Binder+Co AG has existed since this time as an independent company, since the 31. 12. 2006 under 63% ownership of Waagner-Biro AG. Today, Binder+Co is world-wide technological leader in the field of waste glass processing, and with the top product BIVITEC also a market leader in the field of separation of bulk materials difficult to screen. These core products are supplemented by products of drying technology and high-performance packaging technology.
