The new T12 spindle moulder offers an ideal balance between price and performance. It is, as such, a perfect member of our compact-class family,” explains MARTIN’s marketing director Michael Mühldorfer. “With this machine our customers get performance they won’t find anywhere else in this price class.” As they do in all of the other MARTIN machines of the newest generation, the mechanical engineering company from southern Bavaria has also used modern control technology in the new T12. The control and operating concept of the T27’s new ‘little sister’ is the same as for all other MARTIN machines: highly functional and easy to operate. “It was most important to us that, as on all our other machines, the settings are accurate from the very first piece,” explains Peter Martin, head of the development department and managing director. “Quite often our customers see themselves confronted with challenges where they have to do more and more complex task in less and less time but still produce increasingly better results.”
Intuitive and comfortable operation
This new compact-class spindle moulder from MARTIN will be presented for the first time at the XYLEXPO in Milan. At the Ottobeuren mechanical engineering company’s booth (hall 7P/stand D.01/E.10) the technical highlights and the new design will be publicly presented for the first time. The most striking characteristic will undoubtedly be the modern Touch-screen control system. Positioned ergonomically at eye-level and with its intuitive and easy-to-use controls, this enables even inexperienced users to reduce set-up times dramatically and thus make their work-flow more efficient. There is, among other things, a high-performance tool data-base with which can save and manage up to 500 tools – and this in the basic version of the machine. The tools are listed in an alpha-numerical order that makes selecting a tool much easier. And although in the basic version only the cutting height is electronically controlled, additional optional accessories can be added so that the ‘cutting depth (fence)’ and the ‘cut (infeed jaw)’ can be integrated into the controls as well. These two additional axes can be added individually and independently from each other providing perfect customization options.
Perfect support
A completely newly developed optional software module, the ‘Moulding Assistant’ offers an unparalleled dialog between user and machine. Along with the normal data input at the controls, the spindle moulder is now also actively integrated into the set-up process. In a constant exchange of information with the user, this features makes suggestions for how best process an individual workpiece, e.g. by suggesting the appropriate tool to use for a particular processing step. Perhaps not quite as impressive visually as the modern controls but all the more impressive because of its functionality - the T12’s cross-cut fence. This fence coming from the premium-class T27 is very impressive. Its guiding system on both sides which allows repetition accuracy of up to ± 0.025 mm is absolutely outstanding for a compact-class machine. With precision like this, in cutting height as well, even counter profiles can be produced very easily and accurately. And if the fence has to be removed from the table, e.g. for curved mouldings, the robust mechanical fittings make time-consuming re-adjustments superfluous.
DornFix or HSK?
The basic version of the machine is equipped with the tried-and-tested original MARTIN DornFix quick-change system, but the HSK tool-free clamping system option is also available. With the HSK interface the new T12 becomes an ideal addition to a CNC machining centre. Along with the HSK 85 ‘PowerLock’ there is also the HSK 63F, both of which can be added on to the machine at any time. With the help of this technology the user can use the very same tools on the spindle moulder that a machining centre uses, thereby reducing the cost-intensive processing time of such centres by ‘outsourcing’ certain moulding jobs to the T12.
For small workshops and industrial applications
Even though the modern T12 looks quite slim and light, it actually weighs around 1.000 kilos. The extremely heavy and sturdy construction of the machine frame - a compound frame - and the strong ribbed grey-iron table top guarantee the smooth running of this youngest member of the MARTIN family. The new T12 is ideal for companies that are looking for a reasonably priced entry into the MARTIN world of moulding. But workshops with traditional manufacturing processes and large furniture manufacturers as well who decide to use the new spindle moulder as an efficient addition to their machining centres will appreciate the flexibility and performance of the T12. Thanks to its modern control system the many special mechanical features of this machine can be utilized very efficiently and can be perfectly adapted to suit the very specific needs of every company. This makes the MARTIN T12 spindle moulder the best possible spindle moulder choice for companies that put a premium on efficiency, flexibility, accuracy and reliability
Therefore, at MARTIN, we are always working on making our machines even easier to operate, achieving a higher working quality, developing new areas of application and being able to produce end results more efficiently. We regard the machines that we develop as tools for your economic success, and therefore do everything during construction to co-ordinate them perfectly to your current and future requirements - from the standard machine right up to the special purpose solution.”
Since 1922 the German company Otto MARTIN Maschinenbau has been producing excellent woodworking machinery. The product range covers large spindle moulding machines, surfacing and thicknessing planers, solid build sliding table saws unit and also heavy-duty moulding machines with up to seven spindles.
