We are a world wide supplier of special Copper alloys and refractory metals. Our brand ELMEDURTM is well known for high quality products for resistance welding and tooling applications. We supply semi-finished products and parts for resistance welding to drawings like cap tips, electrodes, adapters a.s.o.
THYSSEN DURO METALL GmbH is a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp AG, Düsseldorf and Wieland-Werke AG, Ulm.
Thyssen Duro Metall is the amalgamation of the two companies Thyssen Edelstahl Service GmbH, Verkauf Sondermetalle (founded 1932) and Duro Metall- und Schweißtechnik GmbH (founded 1990), bringing together their expertise and knowledge of their specialist markets.
The new company, as a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp AG and Wieland-Werke AG, is therefore supported by extensive experience of manufacturing, properties and applications of its materials. This expertise and know-how is utilised to the benefit of our customers and partners.
The primary role of Thyssen Duro Metall is the supply of high conductivity copper alloys and refractory metals worldwide.
Elmedur, our registered brand name, is well established worldwide and stands for high quality and reliability. Materials and parts produced in Elmedur are successfully used in the following technologies: Resistance welding, mould making, die casting, electrotechnique and electronic equipment.  | Elmedur® for Die Casting Due to their low weight, aluminium and magnesium alloys have found uses in many fields of industry. Apart from sheet and extrusion moulded products, they are also used chiefly for die cast products. These products are manufactured in horizontal cold chamber die casting machines in which liquid aluminium is poured into a horizontal arranged filling chamber and pressed into the mould under high pressure by a piston rod and plunger.
Plunger materials made of Thyssen Duro Metall copper alloys offer the advantage of high shot rates, good emergency running properties and preservation of the expensive filling chambers.

|  | Elmedur® Hard Copper Alloys for Tool- and Mould-Making Copper materials are typified by their high thermal conductivity. They offer advantages over steel plastic moulds have to be cooled strongly or heat has to be dissipated over long distances.
The good thermal fatigue resistance of Thyssen Duro Metall copper alloy is exploited in ingot mould making for non-ferrous metal casting.
When our materials are used as FE electrodes, the high modulus of elasticity reduces the oscillation of the electrodes in the erosion gap, thereby enabling tighter die sinking tolerances. Thin root faces are less sensitive to handling errors and mechanical damage.
