 | High Speed Steels The cutting edge: BÖHLER high speed steels are used for machine tools such as drills, hobs and broaching tools and in some cold forming applications. The properties required here are wear resistance, hot hardness and toughness which prevents shelling of cutting edges. This guarantees high tool life, low maintenance and down times, and ensures a reproducible production process. Our high performance powder metallurgical high speed steels are a speciality.  | Open Die Forgings Forging and machining a la Carte The open die forge produces an impressively wide range of products from forged preforms (up to a piece weight of 35t) to ready-to-use, machined parts. 5200t Forging press The heart of the forge is a powerful 5200t forging press with two integrated manipulators used to manufacture open die forgings as well as round and flat bar in tool steel and special grades including nickel base alloys. Piece weights of between 3 and 30t are handled optimally. In this way, BÖHLER has become an established partner for many customers world-wide in the power generation, plastic extrusion, extrusion, offshore and aerospace industries. Long forging machine A further key piece of equipment is the highly efficient long forging machine. The high efficiency and precise tolerances of this machine make it the ideal tool for the forging of steel bar and forged billet between 90 and 450 mm in diameter and with a maximum weight of 5t. Corrosion resistant special materials and nickel base alloys are produced here alongside tool and high speed steels.
