Metaq (then Metafot) was founded in 1969 as the first manufacturer of chemically machined parts in Germany. The initial small crew built some of their own equipment, including etching machines, aiming at the low volume end of the market for stamped precision parts. The advantages of the process, particularly low cost tooling, fast delivery and a burr and stress free product were quickly apparent to a growing number of loyal customers.
In 1984 the company acquired and rebuilt four CO2 laser cutters to process thicker metal sheets and other materials. The 4-dimensional CNC controlled cutting tables were designed and assembled in-house.
At the end of the eighties, waterjet cutting was introduced to process even thicker sheets of up to 100 millimetres and materials that cannot be lasered, such as copper, aluminium, polymers, hard rubber and composites.
Since the mid-nineties, Metaq employs Nd YAG laser technology to micro cut SMD stencils and other components.
Today Metaq is the only company worldwide to offer these four processes and their combinations for ever more advanced results.
