* for KAG 806 only within limits |  | EREMA Double Disc Technology DD Many Erema-type plastic recycling applications suffer under problematic feeding influences such as high residual moisture and large density variations in the feed material, as well as too large feeding portions, which typically have a negative influence on the subsequent extrusion process. The extruder has to deal with these “adverses” and shows this in common with reduced or varying output performance, possibly inconsistent melting performance (moisture!), reduced product quality and increased wear, besides reduced overall productivity.

Different melt filter systems for almost any specific requirement
Criteria such as throughput capacity range and type of application, besides individual process requirements, are critical factors in choosing the most cost-efficient melt filter solution. Erema melt filters meet the very highest quality standards and are characterised by their heavy-duty construction, high degree of automation and high-performance availability.
Our products range from simple, manual lever-operated pivot disc safety filters to one-, two- or four-piston partial area backflush screen changers as well as the high end laser filter for heavily-contaminated polymers.
|  | Laser Filter: The Filter with the extreme separating capacity The name ”Laser Filter“ originates from the fact that the core elements of this filtering system, the filter screens, are drilled (shot through) using laser technology, with the holes designed conically, making them self-cleaning.

Used plastic waste contains a large proportion of unwanted material and contamination. Despite complex washing and separating processes, the removal of residual contamination through the melt filtration system in the subsequent extrusion process causes huge problems, particularly in terms of economic efficiency.
Conventional melt filtering technology on the market fails to meet the demands in many cases. This is all the more so if the used plastic waste is to be used to manufacture pellets (recyclate) in film quality.
In order to perform these tasks, Erema has developed a continuous high-capacity filtering system: the EREMA LASER FILTER.
A quantuum leap in filtering capacity
When traditional cartridge filters with wire mesh screens are used, heavy contamination of the screens rapidly results in excess pressure, switching off the extruder in seconds. Using the Laser filter, a continuous filtration and thus extrusion process can be maintained for days and even weeks.
Comparisons made in the Erema’s technical centre and in many customer applications confirm the impressive capacity of the new filtering system, e.g. in filtering plastic melt from washed post-consumer plastic waste.
