Orbitalum Tools GmbH, formerly known as Georg Fischer Rohrverbindungstechnik GmbH
Until December 31st, 2005 the Georg Fischer Rohrverbindungstechnik GmbH has been an independent corporate subsidiary within the Georg Fischer Piping Systems group with head quarter in Schaffhausen (CH).
In the year 2005 Georg Fischer AG, Schaffhausen decided to focus its activities within the GF Piping Systems on their core competences which is plastic piping systems. As a natural consequence the decision was made to sell the metal pipe end preparation business (RVT) to a new owner.
The acquisition by ITW Inc.
On January 1st 2006, the Georg Fischer Rohrverbindungstechnik GmbH became a member of the Chicago based industrial corporation Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) by acquisition. ITW, founded in 1912, consists today of approx. 700 business units in 48 countries around the world. Famous trade marks and products are e.g. HOBART Food Equipment, Systems and Service, PASLODE and SPIT Construction Products, SIGNODE Packaging Systems.
Orbitalum Tools is now a part of the ITW Welding Group, which is world market leader in welding products (MILLER ELECTRIC, HOBART), TIG torches and accessories (WELDCRAFT), welding consumables and gas equipment (HOBART, ELGA) and automated welding equipment (JETLINE).
ITW has gone through a rapid development, an additional 30 companies were acquired in 2005. Due to the strict application of the 80/20 philosophy the revenue and earnings of the ITW companies have increased steadily.
ITW is an "Fortune 200" company and is being traded at the New York stock exchange.
In the year 2004 ITW owned more than 16.000 patents and belongs to the Top 100 American patent issuing companies.
The change of name
The Georg Fischer Rohrverbindungstechnik GmbH has been renamed on October 1st 2006, to Orbitalum Tools GmbH. The new logo will be launched from now and will be used in parallel to the +GF+ brand for the next years.
According to the mission statement "Precision. Power. Simplicity." the products produced in Singen, Germany combine high precision, due to superior drive and tooling concepts with secure and mobile handling.
The primary focus on customer requirements, a solid system- and application know-how, the first-class delivery and customer service and the comprehensive range of high-quality products are the core competences on which our organization continuous success is based.
