In the meantime, mk is proving itself worldwide, helping to automate machinery in the automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical and foodstuffs industries. Our intensive involvement with such industries has enabled us to develop comprehensive system solutions and service. Our basic products encompass profile technology, conveyor technology, linear motion and factory equipment. In all these areas, our aluminium profile serves as the base technology so that different components, assemblies or modules can be easily configured to provide the optimal modular solution.
From project planning through assembly to later modifications or new layouts of equipment, you have a multitude of advantages such as faster supply, greater economy and a proven connection between design and function.
History
1966 Hans Josef Kitz formed the company Maschinen und Apparatebau H.J. Kitz (Machines and Apparatus H.J. Kitz) The origins of todays 10000+ square metres of production area can be traced to a garage in Niederkassel, Mondorf, Germany.
1967 The first machines (A foil-wrapping machine for blocks of bitumen for AWA and Texaco and a celery washing machine for local farmers) were designed and built.
In 1970 the production area increased to 350 square metres. The number of employees rose to 25, some of these people still work at mk today.
In the following years, innovative, high quality technical solutions were built and the company delivered numerous first class products and solutions of which some are actually still in use today.
Increasingly, projects in the field of conveyors were being undertaken. The production area increased to 530 square metres. At this time also, the first export project was undertaken.
1977 sees the move to Glockenstrasse in Troisdorf, with a production area of 1760 square metres where complete machines and diverse conveyor systems would be designed and produced.
The first Conveyor range is introduced. In parallel more success in the areas of machines and plant was achieved.
During 1983 the foundations for todays 250 different profiles were laid down. In this year, mk began the design and production of the profile series mk2000. The series was so named as its inventor H.J. Kitz saw success for it in the marketplace up to and beyond the year 2000. This assumption has so far stood true, as the profile mk2000 is still our most successful profile series.
1988 saw the founding of the first overseas subsidiary company, mk Automation Inc in Bloomfield, USA.
In line with the increasing order book and steady success in other areas, the number of employees increased to 100 in 1991 and the production area to 4500 square metres.
1996 saw the founding of the second foreign subsidiary company, mk Products B.V in Almelo, Holland existence.
The year 2000 saw the founding of the overseas subsidiary, mk Profile Systems Ltd. in Preston, UK
2001 mk celebrated its 35th anniversary since it was founded.
In October 2003 the operative processes at mk were certified by the TÜV Rheinland according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000.
2003 mk has approx. 170 employees. Growing steadily today it consists of 6 works with a production space of more than
10.000 square meters.
In April 2004 mk founded its latest subsidiary mk Kitz Hispania s.l. en Zaragoza, Spain.
From the companys founding to present day, our products have become accepted in the fields of profile technology, conveying, linear motion and factory equipment worldwide and are used extensively in the automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.

With four aluminium profile series – categorised according to their base dimensions 25, 40, 50 and 60 mm – the ideal system is available for every application (more).
